Meet the Founder
A student. A sport. A personal mission to give back.
My name is Veer Vishwakarma, and I am a current Junior at California High School in San Ramon. I founded Scoring Against Cancer to combine my passion for basketball with a cause that is deeply personal to me. After losing my grandfather to cancer, I was inspired to find a way to give back and support cancer research.
What started two years ago as a pledge-per-point drive during my sophomore JV season has grown into something I'm genuinely proud of. In our first year, we raised over $3,500 for the Stanford Cancer Institute with 30+ donors pledging based on in-game stats. This past season, we expanded into a full varsity team-based campaign tied to 9 EBAL league games — and raised over $10,000, more than doubling our original goal of $5,000.
To date, Scoring Against Cancer has raised $13,500+ for the Stanford Cancer Institute, and we're just getting started. For the 2026–2027 season, we're opening pledges early and building on the momentum this community has created. Every basket still counts.
